Day 01: Arequipa - Colca Canyon
We will start our journey at 8:30 am from the hotel. At the departure from Arequipa at 2,350 meters above the sea level we will be able to observe from Yura the Volcanoes which guard the city Chachani, Misti and Pichu Picchu. We will ascend through the side of the Chachani until reaching Pampa Cañahuas’ plain at 4,000 y 4,500 meters. This area constitutes the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca. There, herds of Vicuñas will be observed as well as a great variety of plants. Following the schedule, we will continue through Patahuasi, Alto Sumbay, Vizcachani, Toccra, Chucura and Patapampa. There we will be amused by the view point of the Andes at 4800 meters above sea level. We would be able to eat our Box Lunch during the journey. Finally, we will arrive to Chivay, where you will be left in the hotel of your choice. As an option for the afternoon, there is “La Calera” which is a public place and where you can enjoy a hot bath in different thermal pools that reach temperatures up to 39°C.
Day 02: Colca Canyon - Arequipa
After breakfast, we will head for the Cross of the Condor at 6:30am. Place where you could observe the Canyon and the fly of the Condor which will take your breath away. At the way back to Chivay we will visit the small towns of Pinchollo, Maca, Achola and Yanque. A stop at the viewpoint of Antahuilque is a must. There you will observe the magnitude of the terraces or “andenes”. In Choquetico you will find hanging tombs and stone models of the “andeneria”. Lunch will be taken in Chivay before going back to Arequipa. We will arrive in the city approx. at 4:30 pm. And transfer to your hotel.
